Tragedy struck Sunday night as Steven Noe, 37, of Cortland, lost his life after being struck by a vehicle while crouched on state Route 305. The pedestrian incident occurred around 9 p.m., and despite efforts, Noe succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash. Noe’s purpose for being on the roadway remains unknown, although he was reportedly wearing black clothing.
As authorities continue their inquiry, the driver involved does not currently face any criminal charges. It is not yet known whether alcohol or drugs played a role.
