According to the California Highway Patrol, a motor vehicle accident occurred in Santa Cruz on Thursday. The crash happened on Bonny Doon Road north of state Highway 1 at around 6:40 a.m. 

According to the investigators, a 37-year-old and a 2020 Mazda MX-5 were involved in the collision. The driver of the Mazda went off the road, hit a utility pole, and went down an embankment. 

The officials stated that the 37-year-old suffered significant injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Santa Cruz Police Department did not reveal the identity and the name of the unknown deceased person. 

The accident is still being investigated at this time. Additional information regarding the fatal crash is not available currently.
