October 31, 2023 – Nationwide Report®

In a tragic multi-vehicle accident on October 28, a collision on Highway 21 near Alto claimed the life of a 36-year-old Alto resident, identified as Ronterreal Mumphrey. Mumphrey was operating an ATV on the highway when he was struck from behind by an SUV.

This resulted in his ejection from the vehicle. The report from Texas DPS indicates that impaired visibility on the part of the other driver led to the collision, as they were unable to see Mumphrey in time.

Following the fatal crash, Mumphrey was critically injured and was rushed to UT Health in Tyler. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
