A tragedy struck on Monday morning in Johnson County as a motorcycle accident claimed the life of a Holden man. Ronnie R. Joy, 36, was riding a westbound 2000 Suzuki motorcycle on US 50, just east of County Road 1201 Road, around 6 a.m.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Joy attempted to pass a westbound 2023 Ford F-150, driven by 59-year-old Tracy J. Welhoff of Centerview, when the motorcycle collided with the front driver’s side of the Ford.
The impact caused the Suzuki to overturn, ejecting Joy from the vehicle. Despite efforts to save him, Joy succumbed to his injuries at Western Missouri Medical Center. The incident remains under investigation.
