The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a two-vehicle crash on Thursday. The accident occurred on State Highway 135 at around 5:53 p.m.
According to the officials, a 2009 Toyota Corolla was heading south on the state highway when it crashed into a 2011 Chevrolet truck that was heading north.
The driver of the Toyota incurred fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as 36-year-old Matthew John Brown. The driver of the Chevrolet was taken to a local hospital in Tyler for treatment. He was identified as 51-year-old Tommy Wayne Kerzee.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident. There are no other details available at this time.
