36-year-old Mathew Arnett dead after an auto-pedestrian crash on Hwy 71 (Pineville, LA)

Authorities identified 36-year-old Mathew Arnett, from Pineville, as the man who lost his life after getting struck by a vehicle on Wednesday in Pineville.

The fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place at about 5:30 a.m. on Hwy 71 near Lafayette Drive. According to the investigation reports, Mathew Arnett was trying to cross the roadway when he got hit by a southbound 2006 Jeep Cherokee.

He suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. Routine toxicology tests are pending at this time, officials said. No additional information has been provided by the officials.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
