According to the California Highway Patrol, a fatal crash was reported on Sunday in Riverside. Officials confirmed that one person died due to the pedestrian accident. Authorities stated that the hit-and-run collision occurred in the area of Magnolia Avenue and Skofstad Street.
A 1999 Mercedes Benz going westbound struck a pedestrian while traveling. The 34-year-old driver of the car fled the scene after committing the wreck.
The pedestrian sustained critical injuries and was transported to Riverside Community Hospital. The driver was booked for suspicion of DUI. Other insights including the identity of the victim remain unknown.
The crash continues to be investigated by the CHP. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
