The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reported a multi-vehicle accident in Hesperia on Thursday. The accident occurred on Highway 395, between Poplar and Main Streets at around 6:31 p.m.
According to the officials, a vehicle was headed south when it swerved into the northbound lanes. This caused it to crash head-on into another vehicle.
The northbound vehicle had three occupants – a mother and her two children. All three occupants were severely injured and rushed to a local hospital. The mother, identified as 36-year-old Lisette Villasenor, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead. Her children are recovering.
The driver of the southbound vehicle was not injured. He was arrested and was suspected to have been driving under the influence at the time of the fatal crash.
