Lubbock authorities state that a tragic motor-vehicle crash claimed the life of one person and left another seriously injured in North Lubbock,. The incident occurred shortly before 3 a.m. near the intersection of I-27 and North Loop 289.
Upon reaching the scene, officers discovered the body of 36-year-old Fernando Gonzalez-Gonzalez. Meanwhile, a possible co-passendr of his, 46-year-old Carlos Tovar was rushed to UMC with severe injuries. According to crash investigators, it appears that an SUV, driven by onzalez-Gonzalez, was traveling on the entrance ramp to I-27. However, tragically, the vehicle crossed the northbound lanes of the roadway and collided with the center concrete median.
No further details are available at this time. It is uncertain if impairment played a role in the incident.
