In Abilene, tragedy struck over the weekend as an accident claimed the life of a woman involved in a motorcycle crash. The incident occurred just after midnight on Saturday, according to a recent police press release.

The victim, identified as Shanna Bowman, 35, from Abilene, sustained fatal injuries after being ejected from a Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling north on South Leggett Street. The motorcycle, occupied by Bowman and the rider Shannon Pruitt, 37, left the roadway, resulting in Bowman’s ejection and subsequent death at the scene.

Pruitt was transported to the hospital with injuries. Authorities suspect that speed and alcohol played a role in the crash, and the investigation is ongoing. It was noted that neither Bowman nor Pruitt were wearing helmets at the time of the accident.
