According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a fatal crash was reported on Wednesday night in Ector County. Officials confirmed that two persons died due to the motor vehicle accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred on the IH-20 service road near mile marker 106. The driver of a 2008 Chevrolet Impala was going eastbound when a 2020 Hino truck was going towards the west.
The drivers of the Chevrolet and truck were identified as 35-year-old Rene Cardona Jr. and 69-year-old Luis Flores. Cardena lost control of the vehicle and crossed over the lane. As a result of this, both vehicles struck one another. Cardena and a passenger of the truck identified as 52-year-old Angelina Romero were pronounced dead at the scene.
Flores was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition. The crash continues to be investigated by the TDPS.
