The Washington State Patrol reported a multi-vehicle accident on westbound I-82 at milepost 83 near Prosser. The accident resulted in the death of a 35-year-old Grandview man.
According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the man was travelling eastbound on I-82. He crossed the median, resulting in a head-on collision with a westbound vehicle. A semi-truck with a trailer was also involved in the multi-vehicle accident.
The driver of the wrong-way vehicle was fatally injured and was pronounced dead. His identity is not yet known at this time. The driver of the second vehicle sustained injuries and was transported to Prosser Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The Benton County Sheriff’s Office assisted the WSP with traffic control and clearing the fatal crash. Westbound I-82 has since been reopened after closure for investigation and cleanup.
