According to the Houston Police Department, a hit-and-run accident occurred in Houston on Friday morning. 

The crash happened across the I-10 East Freeway near Wayside Drive at around 2 a.m. 

According to the Houston Police Department, the suspect was identified as an officer who hit a pedestrian. 

A 35-year-old was identified as the victim who suffered significant injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The deputies are investigating whether drugs, alcohol, distracted driving, or speed played a factor in the crash. 

Some portions of the I-10 East Freeway near Wayside Drive are blocked for further investigation.

No additional information regarding the fatal crash was provided.
