The Texas Department Of Public Safety reported a motor vehicle crash on Friday morning. The accident happened in Downtown El Paso at around 9:45 a.m.
The DPS claims that the driver sped away from the trooper after failing to stop. The truck was rendered undrivable at the top of the West Paisano bridge when it collided with a concrete wall while attempting to elude the officer. According to DPS, a 35-year-old male driver from Weatherford, and an immigrant passenger from El Salvador fled and jumped off the bridge. First aid for the two was started by the troopers.
At the scene, the driver was later declared dead. The passenger was taken to a nearby hospital after falling and suffering severe injuries from the fatal crash.
The identities of the victims are not yet known at this time. There are no other details available at this time.
