The New Mexico State Police reported a motor vehicle crash in Rio Arriba County. The crash happened on SR 110 and Forest Rd 559, close to the El Rito Campgrounds. The collision involved an ATV.
According to the preliminary investigation, Darrick Ocana, 35, of El Rito, was driving a 2020 Can-Am side-by-side ATV close to the campgrounds. Unknown factors caused the ATV to roll. Ocana was injured fatally after being ejected from the ATV. The Office of the Medical Investigator arrived on the scene and declared him dead.
Seatbelts were not worn, and alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in this collision. The New Mexico State Police is investigating the fatal crash.
