In a tragic hit-and-run accident near Fowler early Thursday, one person lost their life. California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers were summoned to the fatal crash site at Manning and DeWolf avenues at approximately 4:40 a.m.
They discovered a 35-year-old motorcycle rider, identified as Christopher Garner of Fresno, ejected from his bike and lying on the dirt shoulder. Despite receiving medical attention at the scene, Garner succumbed to his injuries after being transported to Community Regional Medical Center.
Initial investigations by CHP indicated that Garner was traveling at high speed on westbound Manning Avenue when he collided with the rear of another vehicle. The reasons behind Garner’s failure to notice the car remain unclear, as does the involvement of drugs or alcohol.
The vehicle involved in the collision fled the scene and remains unidentified and at large, according to CHP.
