The Wichita Falls Police Department reported a single-vehicle crash on Friday. The accident occurred in the 3100 block of Henry S. Grace Freeway just before 11 p.m.
According to the officials, a 2021 Honda Odyssey van had crashed into a steel girder for the overpass and burst into flames. The vehicle had been driving at a high speed when it hit the overpass structure.
There was only one occupant in the vehicle – a 34-year-old woman who incurred fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the woman is not yet known at this time.
The cause of the fatal accident is still being investigated. It is unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident. There are no other details available at this time.
