A devastating tragedy unfolded early Wednesday morning on I-49, claiming the life of Shannon Thibodeaux, 34, of Lafayette, who worked as a tow truck operator for R&R Towing Company.
Thibodeaux was assisting a motorist with a flat tire when a third vehicle veered off the roadway, striking both the disabled vehicle and the tow truck. The collision resulted in Thibodeaux’s death, as well as the death of a passenger in the disabled vehicle, while several others sustained injuries.
The driver responsible for the crash, a 16-year-old, failed to negotiate a curve, leading to the tragic outcome. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
