A tragic two-vehicle crash in Hidalgo County claimed the life of 34-year-old Sergio Alejandro Padilla-Luna, an Edinburg resident, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
The incident occurred Saturday evening around 6:40 p.m. on FM 1925 and Tower Road.
The crash involved a white Dodge Ram pickup and a gray Chevrolet Trailblazer. DPS’s preliminary investigation revealed that the pickup, carrying a man, woman, and child, attempted to turn left onto Tower Road from westbound FM 1925 when Padilla-Luna’s Trailblazer, also traveling westbound, collided with it due to a failure to control speed.
While the occupants of the Dodge were unharmed, Padilla-Luna was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. DPS Troopers suspect alcohol as a contributing factor pending a toxicology report, and investigations into this fatal crash are ongoing.
