In a tragic hit-and-run accident near downtown, a 34-year-old pedestrian lost his life after being struck by a hit-and-run vehicle. The fatality occurred at the intersection of West Grand Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Way around 12:33 a.m. on Friday.
The pedestrian was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The events leading up to the crash are not entirely clear at this time. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity, awaiting notification of relatives.
The hit-and-run driver fled the scene after the collision. Law enforcement is actively investigating the fatal crash, seeking information on the responsible party. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
