A tragic incident claimed the life of Evangel University professor Renee Griffith Grantham in a collision involving a bicycle and an SUV on Monday afternoon. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Grantham, 34, was riding her bicycle on Highway YY (East Division Street), just east of Springfield, around 2:30 p.m.
The collision occurred when she failed to yield to a GMC Yukon and was struck. Grantham, who served as an adjunct theology professor at Evangel, succumbed to her injuries.
It is not yet known whether alcohol and drugs played a role. There are no other details available at this time.
