33-year-old Shae Lopez and 23-year-old Javier Lopez killed after a wrong-way crash on US 101 (Ventura, CA)

On Sunday, 33-year-old Shae Lopez, from Oxnard, and 23-year-old Javier Lopez, from Camarillo, lost their lives following a two-vehicle collision on US 101.

The fatal car crash took place before 2 a.m. on the freeway’s southbound lanes between Telephone Road and Victoria Avenue. The preliminary investigation indicated that Javier Lopez was driving a northbound Honda Civic on the southbound lane when the vehicle smashed into an Acura RSX, driven by Shae Lopez, near Victoria Avenue.

Both Shae Lopez and Javier Lopez died of their injuries at the crash scene. On arrival, emergency responders extricated an unidentified 33-year-old Oxnard man from the Acura. The man was rushed to Ventura County Medical Center with major injuries. No other details are immediately available.

An investigation is continuing.
