The California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle accident in the Templeton area on Thursday night. The accident occurred on the westbound lanes of State Highway 58 at around 8:10 p.m.
According to the officials, a single vehicle was involved in the collision. A 2012 Cadillac SRX was headed west on the highway when the driver lost control. This caused the vehicle to veer off the south roadway edge and overturn down a steep embankment.
The driver of the vehicle was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased victim is not yet known at this time.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated at this time. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
