33-year-old Megan Smith died in a single-vehicle crash on I-12 near Slidell (Slidell, LA)

On early Thursday, a 33-year-old Megan Smith lost her life after her vehicle went off Interstate 12 near its intersection with Interstate 10 in Slidell, State Police mentioned.

Megan Smith of Houston was heading eastbound when her vehicle veered off the left side of the roadway and went down an embankment at about 1:30 a.m., State Police Troop L said. The vehicle crashed into the westbound I-10 guardrail and flipped over before coming to a stop in the westbound lanes of I-10.

The St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office declared her deceased on the scene. Smith was properly restrained and impairment does not seem to be a contributing factor, as per reports.

The crash remains under review.
