The Corona Police Department reported a motor vehicle accident on Thursday. The accident occurred in the 100 block of North McKinley Street at around 7:10 p.m.
According to the officials, a man and a train were involved in a collision. Witnesses and BNSF employees have reported that the man involved appeared to have intentionally walked onto the railroad tracks. This put the man in the path of the freight train as it approached. The train did try to alert the man by sounding its horn.
The man was critically injured and taken to a hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and was pronounced dead. The officials have identified him to be 33-year-old Maurice Terril Davis.
The fatal crash is still being investigated at this time. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
