The Los Angeles Police Department reported a pedestrian accident that killed a 33-year-old man, identified as Elio Bautista, and his 63-year-old mother in West Lake on Monday.
Roughly at 5:20 p.m., a man was driving a 2008 Cadillac CTS on eastbound Wilshire Boulevard at a high speed. He lost control of the vehicle and struck a light pole. Further, he struck two pedestrians who were standing there.
The two pedestrians were fatally injured and were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for DUI and vehicular manslaughter. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated.
