Authorities identified 33-year-old Christinia Estave as the woman who lost her life following a two-vehicle accident on July 15 in Denham Springs.
As per the initial information, the fatal car crash was reported just before 1 a.m. on LA 16 southbound, south of LA 64 in Livingston Parish. The early reports showed that a Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy was responding to a call of service in fully marked 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe.
The deputy was heading south in the left lane of travel on LA 16 when the vehicle rear-ended a 2004 Saturn Ion. The Saturn was completely stopped in the left lane of travel before the collision for undetermined reasons. The driver of the Saturn was not buckled up at the time of the accident. She was rushed to a local hospital where she later died of her injuries.
The deputy was also not wearing a seatbelt at that time and received minimal injuries. A toxicology sample was taken from both drivers and will be given for analysis, officials mentioned. No additional information has been provided.
The crash remains under review.
