A 32-year-old woman lost her life after being hit by a car in Pontiac on Thursday night.
As per the initial information, just before 6 p.m., the female pedestrian was struck by a driver at the intersection of Telegraph Road and Voorheis. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene after the collision. On arrival, police found the woman lying in the roadway. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, but succumbed to her injuries.
The driver informed police that he was heading northbound with the flow of traffic when he reportedly said she walked in front of his vehicle. It is unknown if any charges will be filed against the involved driver. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified.
An investigation is ongoing.
