Authorities identified 32-year-old Matthew Marsden and 33-year-old Marcus Marsden as the two brothers who lost their lives following a two-vehicle collision Tuesday afternoon south of Wapato.

The fatal car crash took place at about 2:50 p.m. at the intersection of Progressive and South Wapato roads. According to the investigation reports, a red Mustang was heading east on Progressive Road when it ran a stop sign. The car was then struck by a red Dodge pickup going north on South Wapato Road.

Both the driver and passenger in the Mustang were pronounced dead by the officials. Officials reported that Matthew was the driver and Marcus was a passenger in the vehicle. One of them was ejected from the car due to the collision. Both are members of the Yakama Nation.

Reports further added that the driver of the pickup suffered injuries and was transported to Memorial Hospital for treatment. Authorities suspected that the driver was intoxicated at that time. The coroner’s office is waiting on a toxicology report for confirmation. No other details are available.
