A Good Samaritan from Stockton lost his life in a tragic pedestrian accident in Tracy on Thursday night. The California Highway Patrol received reports of a crash around 10:30 p.m. along Interstate 205 near the North MacArthur Drive offramp.
The Stockton man had pulled over to assist a stalled vehicle on the right shoulder. As he and another person were helping to restart the stranded vehicle, the driver unexpectedly reversed into oncoming traffic, leading to a collision with a big rig. The Good Samaritan’s vehicle was also struck.
He was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim, a 32-year-old man, has not been released. The fatal crash remains under investigation by CHP.
