32-year-old man killed after a single-vehicle crash on I-8 in Alpine (Alpine, CA)

A 32-year-old man lost his life Wednesday in a single-vehicle crash on Kumeyaay Highway that blocked traffic for several hours in Alpine early morning.

At 12:11 a.m., the California Highway Patrol actively responded to a car accident along Interstate 8. The preliminary reports showed that a driver of a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer failed to maintain control of his car and crashed, causing the vehicle to flip over.

The man was thrown from the vehicle due to the impact. The reports also revealed that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt and a woman passenger was restrained at the time of the accident. The passenger, 40, received major injuries and was rushed to a local hospital.

Authorities believe that alcohol and drugs were involved in this crash. The man has only been identified as a 32-year-old man. A Sig Alert was announced blocking the freeway at West Willows Road for the westbound traffic for multiple hours. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
