A fatal crash unfolded on Highway 101 south of the Del Rio Road overcrossing on Sunday night, claiming the life of a 32-year-old male passenger. Oscar De La Mora Marin, 37, of Reedley, California, was driving a Subaru at a high speed, reportedly between 90 and 100 miles per hour, while under the influence.
Marin’s intoxication led to a series of events where the vehicle swerved into the center divider, attempted a return to the roadway, overcorrected, and ultimately rolled over.
The ejected passenger was critically injured, succumbing to them at Sierra Vista Medical Center. Marin faces felony DUI charges and has been booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail.
The motor vehicle accident is still being investigated.
