Authorities identified 32-year-old Karen Garcia-Rodriguez, from Phoenix, as the woman who lost her life following a head-on-collision that also injured one person on Sunday in Yavapai County.

The fatal car crash took place at about 8:30 p.m. northwest of Wickenburg on U.S. 93 near milepost 162. According to the investigation reports, a southbound Jeep Liberty crashed head-on into a northbound Honda Civic. On arrival, emergency responders rushed the pregnant driver of the Civic, identified as Karen Garcia-Rodriguez, to a Prescott hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. Her unborn child also died in the accident.

The driver of the Jeep was transported to a Phoenix hospital for treatment of his injuries. That driver was displaying signs of impairment. Criminal charges are pending, authorities mentioned. The identity of the injured victim has not been revealed. No other details are immediately available.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
