According to the California Highway Patrol, a fatal crash was reported in Escondido. Officials confirmed that one person died due to the motor vehicle accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred south of Gopher Canyon Road, on Interstate 15. The deceased person was identified as 32-year-old Juan Cornejo.
Cornejo parked his Dodge sedan and was sitting inside the vehicle. He was struck by an Infiniti sedan shortly after this. This collision resulted in ejecting Cornejo onto the roadway.
Cornejo was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck after having incurred fatal injuries. Other insights into the collision are yet to be released.
The cause of the wreck is yet to be determined. The crash continues to be investigated by the CHP.
