The Texas Department Of Public Safety reported a multi-vehicle accident occurred in Midland County on Sunday. The officials confirmed that one person died in the accident. According to the officials, the deceased victim was identified as 32-year-old Jose Arturo Martinez-Garcia.
The crash happened on State Highway 158, Jose Arturo Martinez-Garcia of Midkiff was driving a pickup down SH 158 and failed to control his speed, DPS said. He then crashed into a truck with a trailer from behind.
Martinez-Garcia was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital where he died from his injuries sustained in the crash. The crash report indicated the deceased victim was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The events leading to the collision are not yet known. The authorities are still investigating the cause of the fatal crash.
