The Washington State Patrol reported a motor vehicle accident in Mason County on Thursday morning. The accident occurred on U.S. Highway 101, north of Shelton at around 7:30 a.m.
According to the officials, multiple vehicles were involved in the collision. A vehicle was headed north on the highway when it passed a vehicle by driving onto the right shoulder. It then crashed into a second vehicle before colliding head-on with a third vehicle.
The driver was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The officials have since identified the man as 32-year-old Elliot A Madea. The drivers of the other vehicles involved were not injured.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated by the authorities. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
