The Everett Police Department reported a motor vehicle accident on Wednesday. The accident occurred on Everet Mall Way just after 7:15 a.m.
According to the officials, a man was driving a Cadillac Escalade west on Everett Mall Way when the car went into oncoming traffic. He then drove the car onto the curb and into a pole near the intersection with Evergreen Way.
The passenger present in the vehicle at the time of the accident was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene. He has since been identified as 32-year-old Drew Hallam. The driver of the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of him having taken drugs.
This was later confirmed when the toxicology report indicated that he had taken fentanyl and was driving at the time of the fatal crash.
The crash is still being investigated. There are no other details available at this time.
