The Police Department reported a motor vehicle crash in Albany on Wednesday.
The accident happened on Oglethorpe Boulevard west at around 1:15 a.m.
Jamil Wright, 31, was driving a Dodge Challenger, and Lee Walters, 31, was competing in a 2007 Chevy Corvette, according to the police.
Walters went to a hospital to receive medical attention after leaving the crash site.
When police arrived on the scene, they discovered Wright, who had been declared dead.
The fatal crash is being investigated by the police.
It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
According to police, Walters was charged with racing, fleeing the scene of an accident, and first-degree vehicular homicide after leaving the hospital.
