A tragic crash on South Mountain Thursday afternoon resulted in the death of a woman and injuries to two juveniles, as reported by Phoenix police. The motor vehicle accident occurred near 1000 E. Telegraph Pass Road, where emergency crews responded to reports of the crash.
Despite efforts by responders, the woman, identified as 31-year-old Helena River, succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Two juveniles sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital. Detectives arrived to investigate the single-vehicle crash, revealing that the SUV, driven by the woman, was travelling northbound at a high speed when she lost control, causing the vehicle to roll multiple times.
Alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor, according to authorities. Investigations into the fatal crash remain ongoing as authorities gather further details.
