The El Paso Police Department reported a multi-vehicle accident on Sunday morning. The accident occurred on Loop 375, north of Montana just before 3 a.m.
According to the officials, two vehicles were involved in a collision. A silver Nissan Sentra was headed down the highway at a high rate of speed. It collided with the end of a black Mazda 3.
The driver and passenger of the Mazda were critically injured and rushed to a local hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, the driver succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The officials have since identified the victim as 31-year-old Alonso Mario Lopez.
The cause of the fatal crash is suspected to be speed as well as driving while impaired., the driver of the Sentra has been arrested on those charges.
