31-year-old Alexander N Woods died, Becky E Browning and Wayne D Whitworth injured in a crash (Smith County, TX)

Authorities identified 31-year-old Alexander N Woods, of Tyler, as the man who lost his life following a head-on crash Thursday afternoon in Smith County that also caused serious injuries to 57-year-old Becky E Browning, from Irving, and 56-year-old Wayne D Whitworth, of Ben Wheeler.

The fatal two-vehicle accident took place on Hwy 64 W and CR 1154. The preliminary reports showed that Alexander N Woods was driving a 1995 Toyota Tacoma west on Hwy 64 while Becky E Browning was driving a white 2011 Chevrolet Silverado east on Hwy 64. Her passenger was Wayne D Whitworth.

For undetermined reasons, the Tacoma went into the oncoming traffic, and collided head-on with the Silverado. Woods succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Browning and Whitworth are in a Tyler hospital in serious condition. No further details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
