According to the California Highway Patrol, a multi-vehicle accident occurred in Watsonville at around 3:37 p.m. The crash happened on Carlton Road near Coward Road on Monday.
According to the investigators, a tractor-trailer rig and an unknown vehicle were involved in the collision. The driver of the unknown vehicle was traveling at a high speed, lost control, and struck a tractor.
A 30-year-old woman was identified as the unknown driver who suffered significant injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Watsonville Police Department did not reveal the name of the unknown deceased woman.
The cause of the accident is still being investigated. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
No additional information regarding the fatal crash was provided by the Deputies.
