Washington State Patrol reported a tragic incident occurred at approximately 1 a.m. on Saturday. The incident took place when Mecca Berkins was allegedly traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes on State Route 16 at Rosedale. Simultaneously, a 30-year-old woman from Shelton was driving in the correct eastbound lane.
The two vehicles collided head-on, with Berkin’s car coming to a rest on the right shoulder, facing the wrong direction, while the 30-year-old woman’s car stopped on the median.
The collision caused the 30-year-old woman to be fatally injured and she was pronounced dead at the scene, leading to vehicular homicide charges against Berkins. The road remained blocked for nearly six hours due to the crash.
