The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a multi-vehicle accident in Bell County on Sunday. The accident occurred on FM 439, about a half mile east of FM 93 at around 4:15 a.m.
According to the officials, two vehicles were involved in a collision. A 1992 Chevrolet truck was headed west at the same time as a 2020 Kia Optima was headed east. The two vehicles crashed into each other.
The drivers of both vehicles were fatally injured and were pronounced dead at the scene. The officials have since identified the victims as 30-year-old Macayla Meshell Bartek and 46-year-old Lance Scott Jerome.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated at this time. It is not yet known if alchol or drugs played a role.
