According to the Texas Department of Public Service, a fatal crash was reported on Monday morning in Wilbarger County. Officials confirmed that one person died due to the pedestrian accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred near the centre stripe of Business HWY 287, near milepost 294. A 2021 Honda Accord, struck a pedestrian who was walking on the roadway.
The pedestrian was identified as 30-year-old Danielle Marie Perkins. Perkins was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck. The driver of the Accord was identified as 21-year-old Mia Javan Cardona.
The cause of the collision has been identified as inadequate lighting in the roadway, and the dark clothes worn by the victim. The crash continues to be investigated by the TDPS.
