The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a pedestrian accident on Thursday. The accident occurred on Highway 42, a mile north of New London.
According to the officials, a Lincoln Town car was heading north when it struck a woman who was standing in the middle of the highway.
The woman, identified as 30-year-old Alicen Blanchard Akin, incurred fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 64-year-old Samuel Delano Roy, was not injured.
The cause of the fatal accident is still being investigated. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. There are no other details available at this time.
