The Mesa Police Department reported a motor vehicle crash on Wednesday night. The crash happened on Guadalupe Rd in between Ellsworth and Single Butte Roads at around 9 p.m.

A blue Ford Mustang being driven by a 16-year-old boy lost control while changing lanes. The Mustang struck the curb, crossed it, and rolled into a boulder before colliding with a light pole and coming to a stop.

Four high school girls, ranging in age from 14 to 17, were confirmed to be trapped inside the vehicle by investigators. At the scene, the driver and front-seat passenger passed away. The two girls in the backseat were taken to emergency care and one of them later passed away. Officials confirmed that all four girls were Skyline High School students.

It’s unknown whether the three teenagers who perished in the fatal crash were using seat belts.
