The California Highway Patrol reported a fatal multi-vehicle crash on Highway 65 in Placer County that killed three people on Sunday night.
Roughly at 9:00 p.m., a 2007 Toyota travelling southbound on Highway 65 at a high speed rammed into a 2022 Kia Sorento and 2021 Subaru Forester which were northbound on the opposite lane.
The driver of the Toyota, a 53-year-old woman from Rocklin, was killed at the scene. The driver and the passenger of the Subaru were rushed to the hospital with severe injuries where they later died. These victims are identified as a 66-year-old woman and a 62-year-old man, residents of Marysville.
One more person in the Subaru and the driver of the Kia were taken to the hospital. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated.
