The Austin Police Department reported a multi-vehicle accident in Austin on March 30. The crash occurred near the Tesla Gigafactory overnight around 2:24 a.m.

According to the authorities, the Austin-Travis County EMS responded to the collision on N FM 973 near Platt Lane’s intersection. Seven individuals were involved in the two-vehicle crash, with three of them fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene. The identities of the victims remain undisclosed at the moment.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fatal crash. Medics attended to the surviving individuals, with one being entrapped in a vehicle. After freeing them, emergency responders airlifted the injured individuals to nearby hospitals for further medical attention.
