Early Sunday morning, a fatal crash on eastbound I-10 near Tonopah claimed three lives and left three others injured. According to the Department of Public Safety, a speeding Toyota Highlander collided with two individuals outside their Nissan Frontier pickup, who were fatally struck.
The Nissan’s passenger was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was airlifted to a Phoenix hospital. In the Toyota, the driver and passenger succumbed to their injuries, and the two remaining passengers were also airlifted, their conditions currently unknown. The identity of the deceased victims is not yet known at this time.
The freeway closed for investigation of the multi-vehicle accident and reopened just before 11 a.m. Authorities continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
